In his season 7 submission video, we see Grant’s personality and skateboard and surf skills on full display—no wonder the […]

How veteran Ninjas cope with failure after the cameras turn off

Photo by: Matthew Hayward/NBCU Photo Bank/NBCUniversal via Getty Images via Getty Images “I think processing failure is hard.” -Meagan Martin We love to talk about successes and the “never give up” attitude that so many Ninjas embody, but failure is also a real part of American Ninja Warrior. We watch our favorites train hard all year only to see some of them go out way too soon on the course. We feel their pain and sometimes even cry with them, but how do they pick themselves back up? What happens when the camera stops filming? Here is the perspective of […]

Who is faster — the Ninja dad or the Ninja son?

Photo by: Fernando Leon/NBCU Photo Bank/NBCUniversal via Getty Images via Getty Images Watch the Beckstrands race on their home course. It’s no surprise that as American Ninja Warrior (and now American Ninja Warrior Junior) have gained popularity, more and more kids are getting into the sport. And who can blame them? We can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t want to swing, jump, and run their way through an obstacle course. Ninja is also becoming a family affair in many households, as we saw with the Bergstrom Bunch last season and now with father/son Ninja duo, Brian and Kai Beckstrand. Kai […]

Ninjas keep life entertaining while staying strong

Jessie Graff They definitely know how to make exercise fun! Everyone knows that Ninjas are dedicated, determined, strong human beings. We talk about it all the time. But do you know what else Ninjas are? FUN! Maybe we are stating the obvious here. The actions and the videos of Ninja Warriors everywhere probably speak for themselves. Not many words are needed, but we wanted to put together a collection of videos that showcase Ninjas having fun. They really do know how to enjoy life – and get stronger at the same time! Most people would simply walk through this hallway, […]

#ThrowbackThursday: Watch Mathis “The Kid” Owhadi’s season 10 submission video

Photo By: David Becker/NBCU Photo Bank/NBCUniversal via Getty Images via Getty Images The Kid has been pretty impressive in his first two seasons. Mathis Owhadi, known as “The Kid,” came onto the American Ninja Warrior scene in season 10. (Though he was on Team Ninja Warrior: College Madness and Ninja vs. Ninja.) As a rookie, he sped through Qualifiers, was the second-youngest person ever to clear Stage One, and made it all the way to Stage Two of the National Finals. The Texan made it to Stage Three in his second season, so we can’t wait to see how he […]

There’s a good reason we didn’t see Rachael Goldstein in season 11

Mitchell Leff/NBC She’s hoping to be back for season 12! Have you ever had a fitness goal, achieved it, lost it, and then tried to get it back again? Rachael Goldstein knows the feeling. A year ago, Rachael had no trouble knocking out 30-something pull-ups. However, one month ago, she could complete just five. Of course, Rachael has an excellent (and adorable) reason — her baby daughter, Finley. Rachael Goldstein After giving birth to Finley on October 11, Rachael gave her body the obligatory six weeks to heal and then began to hit the gym. After all, she has applied […]

The Ninja community rallied for one of its own when Mike Cook got in a serious car accident

Mike Cook Thankfully he’s on the road to recovery. A beloved member of the Ninja community gave us quite the scare last week. On December 30, Mike Cook was in a serious car accident. Mike was a competitor on season 8 of American Ninja Warrior and is the charismatic founder of Ultimate Backyard Warrior in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. His Memorial Day and Labor Day events attract top Ninjas and huge crowds every year. His positive impact on the Ninja community reaches across the country, and when Mike was down, support came from every direction. Much of the Ninja community […]
