Mindy Hylton and Glenn Davis inspired at the Atlanta Qualifiers

They were Atlanta crowd favorites.

Atlanta showed some special love for a few of the American Ninja Warrior competitors at the Qualifiers. There was mom Mindy Hylton, who wanted her daughter to see what strength looked like. Mindy fought her way to the Bouncing Spider. Her season is over, but we’re positive the impression she made on her daughter will never be forgotten.

There was also local gym owner, Glenn Davis, who operates NinjaQuest. He was back for his second season and, at 56-years-old, was there to show that nothing was going to slow him down. He’ll even be back for the City Finals!

We asked both of them to share a little bit about what this experience means.

Mindy Hylton:

“I’ve been watching the show for a long time and it’s something that I’ve always wanted to do. It just took me a good, almost five years to get here, because of several hiccups in the road. Cancer, surgery, pregnancies, babies, then I got hit with divorce.

I wasn’t planning on doing the show this year. But then I was like, ‘Nope. Nope. We gotta keep moving forward.’

My motivation to be here is because you can’t let anything slow you down. I set a goal and I’m here to finish it. I want people to remember that I wasn’t afraid to try something new. I had something that I wanted to accomplish. I had been talking about being on American Ninja Warrior for year. And, I did it.”

Glenn Davis:

“(Ninja Warrior) means community and it means family to me. And a way of life. It allows people to overcome obstacles. So you can overcome obstacles that are physical, and you can overcome obstacles in your everyday life.

I want them to know that I’m a family person. And I want to do something that’s bigger than myself. Ninja has allowed me to do something bigger than myself. My facility is not me, my facility is a family. It works because of all the different parts and people that are involved in it.

This is the first time that I’ve really been ready and I’ve trained. I’m definitely okay with the outcome because I’m going to go 100 percent no matter what. Whether I hit a buzzer or whether I don’t, I know one thing. I know that it’s not because I didn’t try.”
